A WARD councillor has asked residents to be aware that highways works outside a major new development in Haworth have now started.

Worth Valley councillor Rebecca Poulsen noted on Monday (Nov 20) that workers have begun preparing to install a new mini roundabout at the bottom of Bridgehouse Lane and Brow Road.

She said: "Initially the new kerbs are being laid with the new crossing island. When the work moves onto Bridgehouse Lane/Station Road there will be four-way traffic lights. A permit is in place for these works until December 1.

"This will cause delays so please be aware."

The mini roundabout is being installed to accommodate anticipated extra traffic from the Bridgehouse Mills site, which is currently subject to a large residential and industrial development by Skipton Properties.

The firm is converting, extending and partly demolishing existing buildings on the site to create 45 retirement living apartments, 77 new houses, an extension to the existing industrial building accommodating Airedale Springs and the building of a new factory for Wyedean Weaving.
