A KEIGHLEY social housing group has brought some early festive cheer to Manorlands.

Incommunities has presented the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice with a £1,000 cheque.

The group donates to a different charitable cause each year, instead of sending Christmas cards to customers and partner organisations.

Geraldine Howley, group chief executive, said: "We are delighted to support the excellent work of everyone at Manorlands.

"This donation follows a poll amongst our staff to find out the cause they most wanted us to support.

"The hospice's work touches the lives of so many local families, some of whom will be connected to staff and customers of Incommunities.

"We are proud to support this cause."

Tribute is paid to the group by Ryan Judson, community fundraising officer at Manorlands.

He said: "Incommunities' wonderful donation is hugely welcome.

"We could not deliver incredible care without such local support.

"The donation will go towards our ongoing work providing person-centred care at the hospice and in people's homes.

"Thank you everyone at Incommunities!"

Manorlands supports patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families at the hospice and in the community, across an area covering Craven, Airedale and Wharfedale as well as parts of Bradford.

All services are free to patients and their loved ones, but it costs £9,000 a day to keep the hospice doors open.

Only a small part of the cost is covered by statutory funds.

Most of the funds have to be raised through voluntary donations.
