Colette Gibson, the health and social tutor at Parkside, said the interviews with 10 different employers give the teenagers a valuable insight.

She said: “The objective was to find out as much as they could about possible careers and different career routes in health, social care and early years sectors.

“They got lots of inspirational advice about what they need to do to achieve careers in these different care sectors and hopefully will now be thinking about what type of career they want when the leave school.

“This could be nursing, midwifery, nursery nursing and nursery management, or being part of the children and young people’s workforce as play assistants, children centre managers, social workers, social care assistants, or residential care assistants and managers."
