A CULLINGWORTH woman is having her locks lopped to raise money for a cancer charity.

Liz Riley, secretary of Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support, will lose about ten inches of her flowing hair.

Cash raised will go to the group.

And the hair is being donated to the Little Princess Trust, which makes real-hair wigs for children who lose their own hair through cancer treatments.

The cutting session is being held at the George Hotel, in Cullingworth, at 9pm on Thursday, December 21.

There will also be a raffle, with a £50 cash first prize.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mrs Riley, 55, said: "As well as fundraising and donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust, I'm hoping to raise awareness of both charities.

"I've always had long hair – it's almost down to my waist – so it's going to seem strange losing it, but it's for two great causes."

Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support – based at the Aire Valley Business Centre in Lawkholme Lane, Keighley – provides a wide range of free services for people affected by the disease, and their families.

Provision includes counselling, reiki, meditation, Indian head massage and reflexology.

Comfort boxes are produced to help people through chemotherapy.

And a drop-in session is held every Thursday, between 10am and 2pm.

People can donate at keighleyairedalecancersupport.co.uk.
