A HEAD of school had a hair-raising experience – but all in a good cause.

Kevin Wheeler, of Steeton Primary, grew a moustache as part of the Movember campaign.

Pupils paid £1 per entry in a competition to decide what colour the 'tache should be dyed at the conclusion of the effort.

And thanks to sisters Elysia and Scarlett Cocker, with 17 entries, purple was chosen.

Mr Wheeler was delighted with the £150 raised – for cancer research – through the venture, and thanked everyone involved with the school for their support.

But he was less impressed with his new look.

"It was my first ever – and probably last – moustache," he said.

"I'm a big fan of the film Chocolat, but instead of looking like Johnny Depp I ended-up looking like Alfred Molina – not what I had intended!

"So once the money was collected it was a case of 'hair today, gone tomorrow'."
