SCHOOL pupils had an early Christmas celebration after inviting residents from care homes for a festive party.

Residents from Thompson Court at Crossflatts were among those invited to the party at Beckfoot School, Bingley, hosted by Year 11 students.

At the event, the students took part in various activities with their guests, such as making Christmas cards and decorations, and handed out presents.

Rebecca Shaw, who helped organise the event, said: “The elderly people absolutely loved it.

“They wore their Christmas jumpers, and cannot wait to come back again next year.

“It’s really nice because these presents might be the only ones they get this Christmas, and it gives the students a chance to interact with them, do activities together, and get to know them.

“The students have to do a communications unit and look at care values, and as part of that work with two different age ranges, young children and elderly people.”
