PEOPLE are being urged to recycle their Christmas trees when the festive season is over – and raise money for Manorlands at the same time.

Staff and volunteers from the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice will collect trees, in exchange for a donation.

The initiative will run between January 8 and 13.

Supporters are asked to register their details and pledge a donation, which can be anything between £5 and £100, and then leave their tree somewhere accessible for collection in the New Year.

All the trees will be taken for recycling.

Manorlands community fundraising officer, Ryan Judson (pictured by John Ashton preparing for action), said: “Getting rid of a Christmas tree in the New Year is a hassle that most of us would happily do without.

“We thought that by launching our Christmas tree collection service, we could save people the chore by coming along and doing the hard work – in exchange for a donation.

“We’ve been extremely lucky to have a large van donated to us for the duration of the service by Skipton Self Drive to help us collect the trees, meaning that all money raised will enable us to keep providing the incredible care we offer in the local community.”
