PARENTS at a Keighley school raised more than £600 in under twenty minutes for the Rohingya Muslim Crisis Appeal.
The group from Holycroft Primary staged a sale of home-cooked food.
The idea came about after the parents, including members of Holycroft Parents Friends Association, had been discussing the crisis in Burma and Bangladesh and what they could do to help.
Spokesman Rana Begum said: "We are very proud because this was the first charity fundraising event we'd done on our own.
"We are very grateful that the school allowed us to hold the event on the premises and it was amazing to see how the community came together and supported our efforts.
"We'd like to thank everybody who donated money and food and helped out."
Around 20 parents contributed food – including samosas, rice, pakoras, kebabs, cakes and buns – and helped sell it.
The group raised £632 in total and received a certificate, in recognition of its efforts, from the Ummah Welfare Trust.
Further charity events are planned next year.
