MORE than £1,300 has been raised for various causes during the autumn term at Glusburn County Primary School.

Head Richard Hunt has praised the efforts of “incredibly kind-hearted” parents, staff and children for carrying out the fundraising.

He said: “At a time of giving, this should make us all immensely proud to part of such a thoughtful, considerate and caring community.

“Thank you to everyone who donated; our school makes a difference to the lives of others.”

Key stage two children and their parents raised £612 for Shelter Box after being inspired by classroom work on natural disasters.

The charity – which works with Skipton and Rotary Club – provides boxes for disaster zones that contain family tents and essential items like tools, cooking sets and solar lights.

The whole school raised £290 for the Poppy Appeal to help the Royal British Legion support veterans and their families.

The school raised £201 for Save the Children during Christmas Jumper Day. A key stage two carol service raised £200 for the Macmillan cancer care charity.
