RAIL passengers on the Airedale line face more disruption as union members stage the latest in a series of strikes.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union is planning further walkouts - on January 8, 10 and 12 – in a long-running dispute over the axing of guards on trains.

Operator Northern says only a limited service will run on the three days.

Amended timetables are due to be published on Thursday.

A spokesman said: "Customers can be assured that we are doing all we can to keep them on the move.

"On strike days, the majority of available trains typically operate between 7am and 7pm and we run between 40 and 50 per cent of our usual service.

"These trains, and any replacement buses, are usually very busy so we ask our customers to plan ahead and keep checking our website before any journey is made."
