A BARN in Oxenhope could be converted into two cottages if planners agree.

The application for the property at Hanging Gate Farm, Hanging Gate Lane, was considered by members of Oxenhope Parish Council.

Under the plans, the existing barn would be turned into a pair of two bedroom cottages.

Design and structural statements accompanying the application explain that the barn dates back to the early 18th century, adding that significant rebuilding would not be required for the conversion.

The design statement adds: "There are no overlooking nor overshadowing issues caused by the proposals.

"Three car parking spaces are to be formed and highway access reduced in width.

"A new, low roadside wall is to be constructed across the barn frontage.

"The site contains extensive garden space to the south which will be unaffected."

At their latest monthly meeting, Oxenhope parish councillors raised no objections to the application, though did query whether it would have enough parking spaces.

The proposals will be decided by Bradford Council.
