SILSDEN now has its fourth publicly accessible defibrillator, thanks to a joint effort involving its town council and Silsden Playing Fields Bowling Club.
The device was installed on the outside of the clubhouse earlier this month. (January)
Silsden Town Council paid for the defibrillator and the cabinet, while the bowling club organised and funded the installation, which was carried out by Silsden Electrical Services.
Among those present when the defibrillator was put in place was Silsden town mayor Councillor Peter Robinson, bowling club secretary Richard Barton and CPR co-ordinator Lawrence Walton.
Mr Barton said: “This is a good place to have one of these defibrillators.
“About 150 people aged over 65 pass through here every week during the summer, and we’re also close to the rugby fields, and to where a lot of people walk their dogs.
“We’re looking after our people. Hopefully it’ll never need to be used.”
The club will be staging CPR courses for anyone wishing to help save lives. Contact richbarton5@gmail.com for details.
