A CULLINGWORTH woman who had her locks lopped for charity raised £1,110.

Liz Riley, secretary of Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support, lost about ten inches of her flowing hair.

Proceeds were for the group.

And the hair has been donated to the Little Princess Trust, which makes real-hair wigs for children who lose their own hair through cancer treatments.

The cutting session took place at the George Hotel, in Cullingworth, where there was also a raffle.

"I am absolutely astounded by the amount raised – everyone has been so generous!" said Mrs Riley.

"The group is such a vital support for people in this area. We've had three new people through the doors just this last week."

Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support – based at the Aire Valley Business Centre in Lawkholme Lane, Keighley – provides a wide range of free services for people affected by the disease, and their families.

Provision includes counselling, reiki, meditation, Indian head massage and reflexology.

Comfort boxes are produced to help people through chemotherapy.

And a drop-in session is held every Thursday, between 10am and 2pm.

The group would like to hear from any businesses interested in fundraising for the cause.
