A SEARCH has begun for Keighley's 'good eggs'.

Organisers of an International Women's Day event are seeking nominations for unsung heroines in the town.

The Good Egg Awards will be presented at the event – at Highfield Community Centre in Drewry Road, Keighley – on Saturday, March 10.

Any girl or woman who 'goes the extra mile' for their community could receive an award.

A spokesman said: "Nominees could include someone who picks-up litter in the streets, works tirelessly to run a community group, volunteers their time to make a difference where they live or selflessly gives back to their neighbourhood in some other way without wanting anything in return.

"We're looking to recognise and celebrate the best in community spirit.

"Your 'heroine' doesn't have to have changed the world – they just need to be making a little difference in Keighley.

"So no matter how big or small their efforts, do nominate your good egg!"

Nomination forms can be obtained from community development worker Diane Law on diane@keighleyhca.org.uk or by calling 01535 608900 or 07512 183877.

The closing date for nominations is noon on Friday (Mar 2).

The March 10 event, from 1pm to 4pm, will celebrate the centenary of women being given the right to vote.

It will also focus on the International Women's Day theme, #pressforprogress.

There will be a range of family activities, speakers, stalls and refreshments.

The event is being hosted by Highfield Community Association, in partnership with various agencies.
