CAMPION have handed Tadcaster Albion a first defeat of the season in the Flexible Football West Riding County FA Under-21 Floodlit League.

After both sides had created a couple of chances, Albion took the lead with a timid shot, but the hosts equalised when a header from a corner was tapped in by Matthias Britton.

Red cards then reduced both teams to ten men but Campion, who had the edge in pace and power, grew more confident, and Jahro Parchment won it with a penalty.

Campion manager Louis Etienne said: "We ran out deserved winners and it could have been a lot clearer if we had taken our chances."

Brighouse Town made their long trip to Goole worthwhile by winning 3-0.

With the wind at their backs in the first half, Town went ahead via Joe Gormley from Finn Donovan's corner.

Generally in control, the visitors needed two fine saves by George Clarke to stay ahead, and rubbed in their superiority with late goals by Jordan Baldwin and Jack Normanton.

Town's assistant manager Barry Thomas said: "The match was played in difficult conditions, with the wind and an uneven pitch, which resulted in not a lot of good football being played by either side."

Silsden entertained in-form Ossett Albion and recovered from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.

Albion, in the top three and having won four in a row, had to play second fiddle early on, however, with Luke Baldwin and Aaron Davis looking bright and creative.

But the hosts were unable to translate this superiority into chances in a first half-hour that was devoid of them at either end.

Albion were awarded a free-kick 40 yards out by the left-hand touchline on 39 minutes, and it ended up in the net.

A superb finish then made it 2-0, but the Cobbydalers came out for the second half with renewed vigour,

With McKenzie Dawson marshalling the defence, Silsden looked more secure, and Ben Cox started to control midfield.

Their reward was two Aaron Davis goals in the last quarter.

Not content with levelling, Silsden threw caution to the wind in search of a winner but were lucky not to be punished on the counter attack, with Albion hitting a post and the excellent Sammy Lee saving superbly in the last minute to maintain parity.
