A HISTORIC engine which once powered a Bradley mill will be in operation next weekend.

The 300HP Smith Bros & Eastwood engine can be seen in steam at Bancroft Mill Museum, Barnoldswick, on Sunday, March 25.

The engine, built in 1901, used to provide power for the former Peter Green's Cross Lane Mill at Bradley.

It was 'rescued' 15 years ago and then underwent a massive restoration project by volunteers from the Bancroft Mill Engine Trust.

The museum, in Gillians Lane, will be open from 11am. The engine will operate at intervals between 1pm and 3.45pm.

Admission is £6 for adults, £5 concessions and £15 for family tickets. Children five and under are admitted free.
