A SOFA push due to come through the Keighley area today has been cancelled because of the weather.

Keighley-born TV weatherman Paul Hudson and his BBC Look North colleagues Harry Gration and Amy Garcia were scheduled to take in Wilsden and Cullingworth and finish at Haworth.

But the heavy overnight snow has left some roads treacherous.

"We're really disappointed that we can't do this part of our challenge today," said the team.

"We hate to let people down, but it simply wouldn't be safe to push the sofa in such snowy conditions.

"We might put other road users at risk and we don't want anyone hurting themselves."

The team is pushing the sofa around Yorkshire, with the aim of visiting 50 places in eight days.

The gruelling challenge is part of Look North’s 50th-birthday celebrations and to raise money for Sport Relief.

It is now intended to complete the Bradford to Haworth leg at a later date.
