A LEADING Northern Powerhouse boss has addressed campaigners hoping to reopen the Skipton to Colne rail link.

The annual general meeting of SELRAP, the Skipton-East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership, heard positive news about plans for the railway line.

Tim Wood, the Northern Powerhouse Rail Director for Transport for North, Gave a detailed presentation on the Strategic Rail Plan for Northern England.

He said Transport for North’s plan included the SELRAP project high on the agenda.

Transport for North will provide funding for a definitive study of the Skipton to Colne track bed by the Department for Transport, for completion by the end of 2018.

SELRAP chairman Peter Bryson, with support from other members of the executive committee, gave a positive report on the campaign, including “transformational progress” that had occurred in recent months.
