REAL bunnies are among special attractions at Cliffe Castle as it marks its first Easter since a £4.5 million revamp.

The much-loved rabbits and guinea pigs are returning to the park during the school holidays, moving into newly-built homes.

To celebrate the return there will be an Animal Fun Day on Saturday, March 31, from 12 noon until 4pm.

The Cliffe Castle animals will be joined by the Worth Valley Ferret Welfare racing team and a selection of reptiles from Shipley shop Into The Wild.

Inside the museum will be mask-making.

The following weekend sees a free circus skills workshop, where everyone is invited to try their hand at juggling, stilt walking and more. The event on Saturday, April 7 will run from noon to 3pm.

There will also be circus crafts on Tuesday, April 3 from 1pm to 3pm, with a drop-in family session when people can make circus climbers.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Environment, Sport and Culture, said: “Spring is probably the best time to experience the newly refurbished park, especially with lots of free events for all the family both outside and inside the museum.

“Cliffe Castle has been one of the district’s favourite destinations since it became a public park and museum more than 50 years ago. I hope as many people turn out for the exciting free events on offer.”

Tuesday, April 10 will see wildflower seed sowing from noon till 3pm, when people can help grow bee-friendly plants with the Airedale Beekeepers.

An Easter Story Trail will run throughout the school holidays.

Cliffe Castle Park officially opened in December following around 18 months of work, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Bradford Council, to restore the park to its Victorian splendour.

The project has seen the restoration of original buildings, features and statues in the park, including fountains, the pond, and a new glasshouse complex and cafe.
