AN Oakworth woman attended the opening in the House of Commons of a photographic diary showing the recovery journey of people with severe facial paralysis.
Mrs Jeanette House suffered from Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of the ears.
And she still has facial paralysis.
"Over 100,000 people in the UK are affected by some form of facial palsy," she said.
"This condition is not merely cosmetic, but has a devastating impact."
As a result of her experiences, Mrs House has campaigned to promote the work of Facial Palsy UK and recently received a special recognition award from the charity for her contribution towards research, patient information and supporting others.
The Commons event, in the Upper Waiting Hall, was also attended by Keighley MP John Grogan.
