A KEIGHLEY dad is making a patient bid to set a Guinness World Record.

Airedale Hospital nurse Jonathan Carter will run the London Marathon on Sunday April 22 dressed as a hospital patient pushing an IV drip on a stand.

He hopes to win the Guinness title for the fastest marathon dressed as a hospital patient.

Proceeds from Jonathan’s sponsored run will help real patients, with cash being split between the hospital’s dignity room and youth charity the Brathay Trust.

Jonathan, an emergency nurse practitioner and charge nurse, hopes to raise £6,000. He has completed more than 100 marathons since he started in 2006.

Jonathan said: “There’s a great tradition of London marathon runners wearing fancy dress around the course, but apparently not in a theatre gown complete with a drip stand.

“Everyone knows how undignified hospital gowns are which is why I am fundraising so we can provide clothing and toiletry to patients who need something to go home in.
