A LANCASHIRE versus Yorkshire theme will feature in the seventh annual Haworth Beer Festival, which takes place this month.

The festival, which is on from Friday April 27 until Sunday April 29, will be hosted by the Old School Room, in Church Street and is being run by Bronte Bars and Events.

Organiser Kath Thornton said: "We're having a War of the Roses Lancashire versus Yorkshire theme, with some exclusive beers on the rack.

"Goose Eye Brewery is brewing a special festival ale called 'Wuthering' and Bowland Brewery, from Clitheroe, is brewing the other special ale called ‘Heights’.

"As it's Emily Bronte's bicentennial year and, as we've done in previous years, we want to celebrate the great achievements of the Brontes.

"As well as more than 30 ales to sample we have the ever popular Branwell's Gin & Rum Shack.

"Along with live music from Howlin’ Johnny and the Devil's Rejects we have just confirmed a brand new live acoustic band for our Saturday evening entertainment. They will be playing all genres of music from Fleetwood Mac to the Kooks."

Food for the festival will be supplied and cooked by Marsh Top Farm Shop, of Oxenhope.

The first day of the festival, on April 27, will include entertainment and music by Howlin' Johnny from 6pm to 11pm.

On Saturday the festival will run from noon to 11pm with music throughout the day.

On the Sunday the event lasts from noon till 5pm. This afternoon includes a family fun day in aid of Manorlands, with tombolas and a soft play area for under fives.

Entry is £4 for the whole weekend with each pint costing £3.
