A 104-year-old woman was taken on a special trip down memory lane after her carers organised a visit to Keighley Picture House Cinema for her.

Freda Walsh, who lives in Oakworth Manor care home, recently celebrated her 104th birthday at the home with a tea party with family members.

She had also spoke of her fond memories of regularly visiting the cinema decades ago, so staff at the home she lives in decided to arrange for her to return to this popular town centre venue.

Nicola Crabtree, activities co-ordinator at Oakworth Manor, said: "I rang up the Picture House and they let us bring Freda along for a look round the cinema.

"They were very good and Freda even had some popcorn! She loved the visit."

Mrs Walsh was given a tour of the cinema by its assistant manager Julia Tillotson.

Mrs Crabtree thanked the cinema's management for their support on the day, adding that the Picture House had also given Oakworth Manor five free tickets so some of its residents could enjoy its screenings of old films.

Mrs Walsh is originally from Ingrow. She used to work as a carer at Hillworth Lodge and was later assistant matron at what was once Ingrow Green care home. She has been living in Oakworth Manor for about four years.
