KEIGHLEY residents were urged to talk about their concerns on street corners and communal areas in their neighbourhoods.

They were able to air their views on play, refuse, crime, youth activities and the environment as part of a Keighley Big Local initiative.

Big Local, a local regeneration scheme, gave people in neighbourhoods alongside the lower River Worth a chance to talk about issues that mattered to them.

The focus was on how people and organisations could work together to make a difference, rather than what services ‘should’ do.

Big Local plans more sessions later this year.

The sessions were held alongside Street Surgeries in the Keighley East ward that saw police, Bradford Council officers and housing staff going out and about to chat with residents.

Street Surgeries were also held in Keighley West ward, starting outside primary schools and finishing at nearby community centres.

Following the success of the 2017 programme of Street Surgeries, the councillors are contacting schools and community organisations to organise similar events this year.
