O’HOOLEY & Tidow are back in the region with their latest album Shadows.

The BBC Radio Two Folk Awards nominees, who have played Keighley, can be seen at the Square Chapel in Halifax on May 4.

The songwriting, voice and piano partnership of Belinda O’Hooley and Heidi Tidow is regarded as one of British folk music’s mightiest combinations.

Critics have branded their work as robust, northern, poetical, political folk music for the times we live in.

From an emotionally-charged song about an elephant orphanage in Nairobi, to a joyous celebration of the Leeds cycling champion Beryl Burton, they explore subjects in a distinctive, inventive and memorable way.

O’Hooley & Tidow have been compared with early Simon and Garfunkel and the iconic Kate and Anna McGarrigle, with the closeness of family bands like The Coppers or The Watersons.’
