AIREDALE NHS Foundation Trust has a new chief executive.

Brendan Brown is currently the chief nurse and deputy chief executive of Calderdale and Huddersfield's health trust.

He succeeds Bridget Fletcher, who is retiring next month.

The appointment is welcomed by Airedale trust chairman, Andrew Gold.

"There was a strong field of candidates from which the board was delighted to appoint Brendan," he said.

"Our new chief executive will also be the lead for the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Health and Care Partnership.

"Brendan brings a wealth of experience of leadership within a hospital trust, and of working with partners across a wider health and care system."

Mr Brown said he was delighted to be taking-up the post.

He added: "Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has an excellent reputation, a strong sense of teamwork and a respected and committed leadership team.

"The NHS faces challenging times but I am confident that the trust can work with patients and partners to continue to improve the quality of services for our community."
