IMAGES showcasing the South Pennines are being sought for a competition.

Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit shots encapsulating the area, which includes Keighley and the Worth Valley and its surrounding moorland.

Photos will be used to promote the region.

Winning shots will also appear on greetings cards and some will feature in a touring exhibition.

The free-to-enter competition is being staged by Pennine Prospects.

Adele Adams, for the organisation, said: "We are looking for photographs that demonstrate the diversity of the area, from its rugged wildness to its industrial heritage.

"We're seeking images that help to define or describe the South Pennines, not just its landscapes but also its wildlife and people and the events that take place here.

"Why not send us a shot of a character in your town or a kingfisher on the riverbank?

"We have so many wonderful producers in this area too. Photographs of our farmers or artisan food producers would really help to demonstrate the area's distinctiveness. This competition is all about celebrating everything we have in the South Pennines."

Any photos used will be credited.

The deadline for entries is August 5.
