HANNAH Campbell admits her hat-trick at the weekend was a big confidence boost as Bradford City Women kept their momentum going.

The Bantams defeated West Bromwich Albion 4-2 to move into seventh in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division – recording their second win in four days after a 2-1 success at Stoke.

Ending a run of five games without a goal, Campbell was delighted to grab her seventh, eighth and ninth of the season for City.

“I couldn’t be happier. I haven’t scored many goals recently, so to get three in one game is definitely a big confidence boost,” she said.

“The team worked hard so I wasn’t surprised that chances were created for me. Hopefully now I can get a few more before the end of the season.”

Campbell gave City a superb start when two goals in two minutes established a comfortable lead midway through the first half.

Louise Fellows halved that deficit before the break, before Campbell’s third of the day restored the advantage straight after the restart.

Hannah George pulled another back for the Baggies to make things interesting, but Laura Elford netted her 24th of the campaign to ensure victory.

After suffering a 7-0 defeat at champions-elect Blackburn, City have now won back-to-back games, with Campbell praising their response to such a heavy loss.

She said: “The Blackburn game was one to definitely forget. They are on a massive high and are a strong, talented side, but no one likes to suffer a defeat like we did.

“However, the team couldn't have bounced back better. Every player put in a performance on Thursday, where we battled hard and dug deep to win three points against a Stoke team who are in good form.

“Thursday's win then put the team on a big high which was shown in Sunday's game and was an important factor in us getting another win.”

Campbell continued: “We controlled the game against West Brom from the start, and again put in good performance to get another well-deserved three points.

“Three matches in six days was a big strain on the players but we didn't let it affect our performance.

“We all showed what we are capable of by getting six points out of a possible nine.”
