Kildwick Primary School classes which took part in the project
CHILDREN at a village school have been learning about life in the community during the time of the plague.
Pupils in classes three and four at Kildwick Primary explored how the plague in England spread and villagers' misconceptions about the disease.
They held meetings to decide whether to banish a villager who may have had the disease.
Role play and improvisation was used to understand the symptoms of the plague and the youngsters learned the true meaning of the nursery rhyme, Ring a Ring o' Roses.
The project was led by drama teacher Alex Fellows, who said: "Drama is an effective means of allowing children to explore a period in history in an interactive and exciting way."
