KEIGHLEY MP John Grogan was saddled with yet another visit to a local charity.

He thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Haworth Riding for the Disabled but declined an offer to ride one of their horses.

As well as witnessing the charity’s activities for disabled adults and children, Mr Grogan learned how two of its riders are competing in next year’s Special Olympics World Games.

T-Jay Wilson and James Reed-Griffiths after raise thousands of pounds each to help with Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure’s cost of sending five athletes from the district.

Mr Grogan was accompanied on his visit by two students from Bradford’s twin town in Germany, Hamm.

Pia Haase, 19, and Lea Van Aart, 20, were spending two months attached to BDSL and working with disabled sportspeople including athletes at University Academy Keighley.

Mr Grogan said: “Haworth Riding for the Disabled have an absolutely wonderful arena. I’m surprised how many people were involved, and took part.”

T-Jay’s grandmother Carol recently raised £500 for the Special Olympics World Games appeal by baking cakes.

Anyone willing to help with the fundraising should contact BDSL funding officer Barry Thorne by e-mailing bsr1@btconnect.com or calling 07423 431629.
