PARKSIDE School students have multiplied their mathematic success.

Students across the year groups at the Cullingworth school has taken away many wins in recent years in local and regional maths competitions.

Now youngsters from years seven, eight and nine have proved they could be counted on after being set a maths challenge set by Leeds University.

Over February half term, students were offered the chance to take home the challenge materials.

Emma Brooksbank, Parkside’s Deputy Head of Maths, said: “Seven of our year seven students entered their work.

“Holly Sykes, Ashley Holmes, Taylor Brennan, Jodie Robertson, Emily Wood, Lucy Stephenson and Marnie Fletcher all received a certificate for their entries.

“The standard of the competition was very high, and we are pleased to announce that Holly Sykes scored a Merit and has been invited to a prize-giving event at Leeds University in May. A first for a student from Parkside, well done Holly!"
