THE BLACK Bull in Haworth is once again hosting an acoustic afternoon organised by local singer-songwriter Ben Blue Waters.

The event on June 3 at 3pm will feature Sunderland act Twice Brewed, Bradford’s blues wonder kid sleepy Jake Segrave, and Ben himself.

Twice Brewed, consisting of Fred Craig (vocals, guitar, harmonica) and Bill E Stewart (vocals, guitar), is a North-East based duo specialising in rock, blues and Americana.

Ben said: “They each have over 30 years’ experience of playing in bands, trios, duos and as solo artists. They are masters of ‘the ancient art of weaving’ and warm, humorous banter.

“They don’t get down this part of the country very often, so this is a rare chance to catch them.”

Sleepy will play a solo set of raw, passionate acoustic blues.

Ben said: “Sleepy Jake is a human time machine reviving the early 20th century blues for a 21st century audience.

“Taking inspiration from some of the more obscure original blues and ragtime artists, he is a one-man musical museum.

“Sleepy Jake Segrave dishes out the rudimentary building blocks of the music which set the foundations for the contemporary sounds of today.”

Ben will start the proceedings with a set of footstomping slide guitar blues, playing classic songs by Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Son House, Captain Beefheart and more.
