COMMUNITY giving has entered a new chapter for a Cross Hills firm.

Airedale Chemical has donated more than 60 books, together worth £500, to Sutton Community Primary School.

The donation – to mark National Share a Story Month – includes a range of science and reading books, suitable for youngsters in each year group.

Mrs Jill Fletcher, deputy headteacher at Sutton Community Primary School, said: "We're over the moon that we have been able to increase the number and variety of books in our library with this generous donation.

"Our relationship with Airedale Chemical began last year when we were treated to a classroom talk and onsite day of experiments.

"This really fuelled our pupils' interest in STEM subjects so now we've expanded our collection of science books with the latest releases, which the children can't wait to read."

The books were presented to the school by Airedale Chemical's head of marketing, Daniel Marr, during a special assembly.

He said: "We're so pleased to be able to enhance the school's resources with this donation.

"We were blown away by the pupils' enthusiasm when they visited Airedale Chemical and hope that the addition of these science books will further feed their interest in STEM at school. We may even have a future chemist in our midst!"

The partnership has been forged through the Airedale Foundation, an arm of the company dedicated to community engagement.
