KEIGHLEY'S MP and new town mayor have met to discuss how they can collaborate to support the area.

Mayor Councillor Fulzar Ahmed said he spoke to MP John Grogan at a meeting on June 1.

"We pledged to work together to make sure we can jointly find solutions for issues in Keighley," Cllr Ahmed added.

"Among the topics we mentioned were Airedale Hospital, the planned shopping centre in East Parade and the cemetery to be built off Black Hill Lane.

"During my time as town mayor I also intend to work closely with Bradford Council, and to see what opportunities we have to share resources."

Mr Grogan said: "I was pleased to have the first of what I'm sure will be many meetings with the new Keighley town mayor.

"I've always been a great believer in the positive contribution Keighley Town Council can make.

"I look forward to working with Cllr Ahmed on a whole range of issues over the course of the year."
