THE 100th annual flower, vegetable and produce show held by a Worth Valley-based group takes place later this summer.

Haworth, Oxenhope Lees & Cross Roads Gardeners and Allotment Holders Association will stage the event on August 26 in Haworth Village Hall and Community Hub.

Classes will include vegetables, fruit, flowers, home baking, jams, chutneys, and handicrafts classes for beginners.

A spokesman for the organisers said: "We hold the show at the end off August, as this allows for a bumper harvest of produce to choose from.

"The schedule has approximately 100 classes. Last year we had 530 exhibits and 70 exhibitors.

"Medwyn Williams, national president of the national vegetable society, has kindly agreed to judge the vegetable classes.

"We have a photography class with the subjects this year being 'Let's Celebrate' and 'My Worth Valley' so if you feel like entering get snapping.

"The staging of the exhibits starts at 8.30am until noon. Doors open at 2pm and the cups are presented at 4pm by club president Vera Dobson, followed by an auction of donated produce in aid of Manorlands. There will be a raffle, tombola and refreshments.

"A big thank you to all sponsors of the classes and the people who help to clean and tidy at the end of the day.

"If people feel inspired to have a go at entering, or would like to help us celebrate 100 shows, they can contact Ruth Shepley on 01535 643437 or e-mail haworthshow@gmail.com"
