TOWN councillors have thrown a lifeline to a Bracken Bank community centre.
The three politicians are each giving half of their personal community funds to bolster the Sue Belcher Centre’s running costs.
The centre, and its Keighley Town Council-funded community worker Pip Gibson, provides a host of activities for residents in the councillors’ wards.
Councillor Barry Thorne, Chris Herd and Samuel Fletcher are each donating £1,000 from the £2,000 they have been given by the town council to spend on community projects in their wards.
Cllr said the Sue Belcher Centre received funding from Bradford Council, but not enough to cover its full running costs.
He said: “The centre is so busy but there are basic things they need, such as roof repairs and safety improvements.”
The Sue Belcher Centre regularly hosts fun days attracting hundreds of people from Bracken Bank and the surrounding area, along with weekly activities for all ages.
