EAST Morton Gala is set to hit a high note.

The theme for this year’s event, on Sunday (July 8), is Music through the Decades.

A wide range of attractions catering for all ages is lined-up.

The event will begin as normal with a procession.

Floats and walking groups will assemble at Sunnydale Park from 11.45am.

Judging will take place and then the parade will make its way through the village to the gala field.

Leading the procession will be the City of Leeds Pipe Band.

The event will be officially opened at 1pm by Gala Queen Amelia Goldstein, 13, a pupil at Bingley Grammar School.

Her attendants are Esther Tennant, Ella Bastow, Annie Richardson and Alice Bateman.

There will be a prize presentation to the fancy dress and float winners.

A host of activities is planned at the field.

There will be the usual range of stalls and games.

The pipe band will play, Jennifer’s DanceKool will perform, there will be a ‘terminator torment’ and bungee run, dog and baby competitions and a two-mile fell race.

East Morton Primary School’s junior choir will entertain.

There is also due to be a fly-past by a Lancaster bomber.

Plenty of food and drinks will be on offer, including a barbecue, bar, ice creams, teas and cakes.

The event will also feature a raffle and the afternoon will culminate with children’s races and an egg-throwing competition.

“There are lots of activities going on for both adults and children to enjoy,” said a spokesman.

“It promises to be a fantastic day.”

Proceeds from the event go to local charities.

Last year, donations included £750 each to Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands and the Liam’s Smiles charity, plus contributions to village groups and organisations.
