A SUTTON songwriter and producer is delighted that one of his artists has won a deal with Universal Sweden.

Basil Simon said Jimmy Sion has signed a three-year deal. Jimmy has been touring the world with his stylish EDM dance act since 2010.

Basil first met him in 2015 during a music business conference, and recognised him from his MTV exposure. He added: “I immediately knew Jimmy was a rising star and was honoured when he asked me to write songs for his next album.”

Basil, known for his X-Factor appearance in 2011, supplied Jimmy with two songs: Boom Boom and Life is a head game. The name of the first song was changed to Boom Your Bombs, following concern the original name would not stand out in Internet searches.

More recently, Basil has begun developing London-based rapper LEWIS, also known as Kemis, who moved to the Cross Hills area a year ago.

Basil said: “LEWIS impressed me with his very emotional and dramatic rap style. This gives him great presence during performances.

“When I later learned this artist shares the exact same birth date as myself it seemed like fate to work with him!”

Basil is welcoming new artists wanting to gain exposure within his plans for local music entertainment in conjunction with First Choice Events.

“I believe there’s a lot of hidden talent in and around the Keighley area and there’s room for a new major show featuring local artists.” he said. Artists or dancers can contact him at jumbojam.co.uk
