KEIGHLEY College students have won recognition for their achievements.

An annual awards evening was held, with a string of accolades being handed out.

There were more than 30 departmental awards and six 'special recognition' honours.

Guests at the ceremony included the Keighley town mayor, Councillor Fulzar Ahmed.

College director, Heather Whitehead, said she was "incredibly proud" of all the students.

"They have worked hard and shown great determination," she added.

"The awards are an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary work our students are doing and we are already looking forward to next year."

Winners included: James Boocock, John Parkes Engineering Award; Amy Thorpe, Keighley College Student of the Year; Aiden Holmes, John Parkes Overcoming Adversity Award; Leah Moorby, John Parkes Outstanding Contribution Award; Jasmine Hibbert, Institute of Engineering & Technology Award, and Jessica Pinto, Dermalogica Student of the Year.

Keighley students also picked-up accolades at the Leeds City College Star Awards, with Helen Holland, Brandon Kitson and Amy Thorpe representing the college. The Airedale Shopping Centre in Keighley sponsored the Service Professions Student of the Year Award and presented it on the night.
