AUSTRALIA-based musician Jeff Lang will headline Barnoldswick’s Music & Arts Centre and Leeds Brudenell Social Club this month.

Jeff has earned worldwide acclaim as a virtuoso guitarist, a dynamic songwriter and a startlingly unique live performer.

Over the course of 16 studio albums he has blended rock, roots, folk, blues, ballads, instrumentals and improvisation.

Never constrained by genre definitions, Jeff is not one to be easily pegged, though it is generally fair to say he largely trades in roots-oriented rock.

He is also a fluid collaborator as shown by his work with the likes of American blues-rocker Chris Whitley (RIP), Rajasthan’s desert-dwellers Maru Tarang and Bobby Singh and Mali’s kora master Mamadou Diabate in the group Djan Djan.

Jeff’s work with the latter won him the 2010 ARIA (Australia’s Grammy) for Best World Music Album, while he and US guitar troubadour Bob Brozman took one home for Best Blues and Roots Music Album in 2002.

Jeff received his third ARIA award for his album Carried In Mind in 2012.

He has shared stages with Bob Dylan, Dr John, Richard Thompson, Ani Di Franco, Debashish Bhattacharya, Greg Brown, AR Rahman, Bob Geldolf, among many others.

He has also delivered show-stopping performances at festivals all across the globe such as Glastonbury, The Dublin Blues Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Quebec City Music Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Fuji Rock, Echo Park China and Ottawa BluesFest.

Doors open at 7.30pm for his July 26 Barnoldswick gig. Call 01282 813374 or 07757 379561 for tickets.

The July 27 gig at Brudenell Social Club begins at 8pm. Visit brudenellsocialclub.co.uk/whats-on/jeff-lang/ for details on tickets.
