A WEBSITE which helps school children brush up their maths skills has benefited pupils at a school in Cullingworth.

Year eight students at Parkside logged onto the Sumdog website.

Maths teacher Lynne Laoufir explained it was the first time this term that her year eight class had made use of the website.

She said students can play games on the site, which gives them an entertaining way in which to improve their maths abilities.

She added: "While the students can choose what they play, Sumdog’s adaptive software guides their learning, ensuring they always work on the right skill.

"It also allows them to enter competitions at both local and national level, which my class did.

"I was thrilled when my class won the local Bradford competition. I would like to give a special mention to Harris Almond, Lily Heslin and George Winder, whose scores were in the top ten of all the students who entered in the Bradford area.

"The class are currently competing in small teams against each other.

"It’s been great to see how the website has really motivated some of the students to spend quite a lot of time doing maths!"
