THE local launch of a pair of children's novels about one of England's most well-known monarchs was hosted by a cafe in Haworth.

Cobbles & Clay, in Main Street, was the venue for a book signing by Cross Roads resident Carol Fellingham Webb, who uses the pen name Alex Marchant.

She was signing copies of her books The Order of the White Boar and The King’s Man, which tell the story of King Richard III through the eyes of Matthew Wansford, a young page in his service.

The books feature the last three years in the life of King Richard, leading up to his death in battle at Bosworth Field.

Ms Fellingham Webb said: "The Cobbles & Clay morning went well, with the owner, Jill, kindly lending us her upper room for the occasion.

"It was lovely to welcome a number of Ricardians, friends and people who had already read the books or had heard about them.

"One special visitor was Mollie Overend (pictured) who was part-way through reading 'The Order'.

"She not only went away with a signed copy of The King's Man for herself, but whisked off a copy of The Order of the White Boar for her Nessfield Primary School library before she heads off to senior school in September."
