A FESTIVAL was the name of the game for primary school youngsters.

Pupils from years four to six across the Ingrow and Long Lee Federation took part in a gaming festival.

The event, the first of its kind in Bradford, was held at the city’s Innovation Centre.

Youngsters listened to keynote speakers from the gaming industry and attended workshops.

The Ingrow and Long Lee participants were chosen by computing teachers Liam Rees and Jenna Dykes, in recognition of outstanding work during their computing lessons.

The festival included a competition, in which pupils from across Bradford district submitted games and gaming designs.

At the end of the event, children themselves judged the entries and voted for their favourites.

Trophies were up for grabs for the best game, character design and game concept.

Among the winners was Ingrow and Long Lee Federation pupil Phoebe Jones, who took the prize for best character design.

Mr Rees said: “Phoebe produced some excellent artwork to win the award.

“All the children thoroughly enjoyed the festival and are now even more motivated to pursue a career in the gaming industry.”
