A KEIGHLEY man whose sister was looked after by Manorlands before she died of cancer will climb Ben Nevis with his two young sons in aid of the hospice.

Sajjad Sadiq, of Knowle Park, will make the 1,345-metre ascent on July 28 with his 13-year-old son Mohsin and nine-year-old son Sohail.

This will be Mr Sadiq’s second time up the mountain, which he last ascended in 2011.

He said he had lost three members of his close family to cancer within eight months, one of whom was his sister, Tazeen Akhtar. She died in 2016 aged 49, three months after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Mr Sadiq added: “My sister spent her last few days in Manorlands, and the care she had there was amazing.

“It’s such a worthy cause so we should do what we can to support it. Sue Ryder Manorlands can only carry on the wonderful work it does through the generosity shown by everyone living near or far.

“We’ll be going up Ben Nevis whatever the weather, and hope plenty of people get behind us.”
