HAWORTH Arts Festival’s second weekend promises more entertainment including a Kate Bush tribute act.

A Sky Of Honey is a one-woman tribute to sound British songwriter and performer, in the Cobbles and Clay cafe on Saturday July 28 from 7.30pm.

The presentation will include songs from the whole of Kate’s 40-year career, along with occasional covers of other artists’ songs performed in the style of Kate.

Tickets for the show cost £5.

A Sky of Honey is named after the second disc of Kate Bush’s critically-acclaimed album Aerial, which in 2005 was her first release in 12 years.

The album is a multi-layered work, incorporating elements of folk, Renaissance, classical, reggae, flamenco, and rock.

A Sky of Honey consists of a single piece of music revelling in the experience of outdoor adventures on a single summer day.

The songs are saturated with the presence of birdsong, and all refer to the sky and sunlight.

Keighley acoustic duo Caledonia Road will perform original songs in the folk/indie genre, on Saturday from 8.30pm at the Old Sun Inn on West Lane.

Frankie Anderson is lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, and Alex Waterman is lead guitarist.

The Heart Trail Run will make its annual appearance at Haworth Festival on Thursday, July 26, and is described as a heart-shaped social run that will take place mainly off-road.

Suitable for all runners, the trail will be marked by ceramic hearts throughout, and donations will go to the Samaritans.

The event, led by Jayne Sedgwick, will begin from the steps of Haworth Parish Church on Main Street at 6.30pm. The length is less than five miles.

There will be an Open Deck Night on Friday at Haworth Cricket Club from 7.30pm, for DJs who reckon themselves a budding Pete Tong.

A spokesman said: “We’re looking for people to come and spin 20/30 minutes of their favourite music, ideally around a theme, in any format.”

Anyone interested in taking part should email committee@haworthfestival.org.

The festival, which began last weekend, will finish on Sunday with a Teddy Bears Picnic at the bandstand in Haworth’s Central Park.

The event, which begins at 12.30pm and is organised by the Friends of Haworth Park, will include a bouncy castle, face painting, teddy bears’ treasure trail, and family music jam led by Ian Hayward.

Organisers of this year’s Haworth Arts Festival promised an exciting range of music, comedy and culture and called for as many members of the community as possible to enjoy the events during the “fantastic” week.

This year’s festival opened with an open mic night at the Cobbles and Clay with Andy Wood and friends leading the performers.

Music in the Park, last Sunday, boasted a line-up of summer sounds including the Mediterranean vibes of Bubamara, the American primitive guitar stylings of Luke Hirst, Haworth Ukulele Group’s good-time strumming, Danish piano vocalist Ruth Nielsen and local singer/songwriter Spence.

Stand-up comedian Patrick Monaghan made his annual appearance at the festival, and during his sixth successive year was joined by comedian Lily Lovett.

The pair set out to perform a collaborative dating game alongside Patrick’s newest solo show.
