THE FUTURE collides with the past in the latest show featuring Haworth-based folk band the Demon Barbers.

Quest promises an unforgettable adventure for all ages on a national tour that comes to the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, on September 21.

The show comes from Breaking Tradition, which brings award-winning “folk powerhouse” the Demon Barbers together with folk and hip hop dancers.

Quest fuses Morris, clog and sword dance with popping, locking, breaking and martial arts to the beat of new songs and traditional melodies with an electronic edge.

Written by award-winning writer and actor Stacey Sampson, it portrays the story of Kai’s search for his missing sister which draws him in the extraordinary computer game entitled Forever Quest.

Damien Barber, founder and Artistic Director of Breaking Tradition and front man of The Demon Barbers said: “We’re all excited to have produced a new dance show specifically aimed at a younger generation which incorporates traditional folk customs into the digital world.

“We were delighted by the fantastic reaction to the premiere Quest from audiences in our new home at Kala Sangam, Bradford, in May.”

Quest is aimed at seven to 12-year-olds and their families.

When Quest was first announced, Damien Barber, leader of the Demon Barbers and Breaking Tradition’s artistic director, said: “We’re all excited to be producing a new dance show specifically aimed at a younger generation and look forward to the challenges of incorporating traditional folk customs into the digital world.”
