A FAMILY trio who scaled Britain's highest mountain in aid of Manorlands presented the proceeds of their effort to the hospice over the weekend.

Sajjad Sadiq, of Knowle Park, along with his 13-year-old son Mohsin and nine-year-old son Sohail, handed a cheque for £555 to the charity on Sunday. (August 12)

They had successfully climbed Ben Nevis together in late July.

Mr Sadiq, who is an HGV driver, said: "We're overwhelmed by the support we've had from people, and I'd like to thank everyone who got behind us. I really appreciate it.

"We hope that what we did will inspire others to put on their walking boots and do something similar, either for Manorlands or other good causes.

"I think in terms of local charities there's nothing more worthy than Manorlands.

"We might do this again next year – though it won't necessarily be Ben Nevis, it could be another mountain."

Mr Sadiq was motivated to help Manorlands because of the care it provided his sister, Tazeen Akhtar. She was looked after at the hospice before her death from cancer in 2016, at the age of 49.
