A KEIGHLEY-district duo was among the outstanding A-level performers at Bradford Grammar School.

Madeleine Silberberg and Beatrice Taggart, both 18, are now preparing to head to university after chalking-up impressive grades.

The school recorded a 100 per cent pass rate, with more than half at A*/A.

Madeleine, from Keighley, who was recently awarded the Edward Clarkson Upper Sixth Physics Prize, gained three A*s and an A and will now study engineering design at Bristol University.

She said: "I'm so excited and pleased. I'll definitely be out celebrating with my friends!"

Beatrice, from Lothersdale, has won a place at Cambridge to study French and Latin after earning two A*s and an A.

At a recent speech day, she received the Edwards Prize for Head of School.

A talented hockey player and budding musician, the school council member also volunteers with vInspired – a UK charity which helps 14-to-25-year-olds give back to the community while learning new skills.

Beatrice said she was delighted with her results.

"I can't believe it," she added.

"It has been a hard year of work, but I gained lots of support and it has really been worth it.

"The school provides so many opportunities. I love sport and music so it's nice to be encouraged to do extra-curricular activities as well pursuing good grades."

Headmaster, Simon Hinchliffe, said: "I'm delighted to congratulate our students on some outstanding results this year.

"The shared endeavour of students – working with the support of their families and staff – has sustained our first-class record in A-level exams, enabling the vast majority of our year 13 leavers to achieve a place at their first-choice university."
