BECKFOOT Oakbank School in Keighley has hailed its "fantastic" students following the publication of A-level results.

Proud bosses at the Oakworth Road school say 77.6 per cent of all year-13 students achieved grades between A* and C.

Sixteen pupils earned an A* or distinction* grade, 41 gained an A or distinction and 47 a B or merit.

There were several outstanding performers.

Lucy Fothergill achieved one A* and two A grades and will now study maths at Lancaster University.

Ffion Myers – who gained an A*, a B and a C – is to study civil engineering at Nottingham.

Bradford University beckons for Jahid Ali, who will study optometry after earning an A and two B grades.

Megan Haley gained an A*, A and B and is now heading to Newcastle to study English literature and history.

Psychology is the chosen degree subject of Lauren Feather, who has won a place at Loughborough after achieving an A and two B grades.

Another destined for Newcastle University is Jade Bairstow, who notched-up an A and two Bs. She will study civil engineering.

Meanwhile, Rezwan Ali – who was awarded an A*, A and B – is taking a gap year before pursuing a career in dentistry.

Head of school, Tina Smith, said she was delighted with the performance of every student.

"Congratulations to all of them for their hard work – and their families who have supported them throughout their school career," she added.

"I am immensely proud of what they have achieved and wish them good luck in their next adventures!

"I also want to praise the staff who have taught and supported our students over the past seven years to help them achieve these successes."
