A TRIUMPHANT father and son from Trowbridge raised more than £1,200 for the National Autistic Society from a charity cycle ride.
Mike Alford, of Sylvester Drive, successfully completed a 450-mile ride from Trowbridge to Land’s End and back this month.
And to make the ride even more memorable, his autistic nine-year-old son Bradley, who chose this charity to fundraise for, joined him for the final 50 miles, just south of Bridgwater in Somerset.
“For a nine-year-old lad to complete that ride was amazing - the long climb out of Wells was really tough for him but to finish the epic journey with my lad was something I will never forget,” he said.
“Bradley did incredibly well, he did himself and me proud.
“My challenge was really really tough - much tougher than I expected but I had prepared quite well so I managed to cope okay.
“The charity was the reason we completed the ride and to raise £1200 for them was fantastic.”
